Before 2018, if a player tamed an ocelot in Minecraft, they will have a tamed cat. Since that day, cats have become their own mob.

Villages, abandoned villages, and witch's huts are all good places to look for them. Stray cats can be tamed with fresh fish once they've been rescued. Feathers, phantom membranes, and string are among the items that cats can carry to players. They can also despawn with a small amount of XP and string.

Players will find cats in one of three locations.

A typical village is the first stop, with each village spawning a specific number of cats based on its size. Untamed cats can be seen stalking prey such as rabbits, and they spawn depending on the number of beds.

They can spawn naturally if there is at least one villager and four beds. In Minecraft, a single village may only have a maximum of 10 cats.

The deserted villages are where the second cat can be found. Players who explore abandoned villages can come across stray cats and iron golems. If the village's cute pest control team is chased away, the village will not be able to fulfil the criteria for producing more. For players looking to tame cats in Minecraft, abandoned villages are ideal.

Witches' huts are the last but not least. For players searching for a black cat pet, a witch's hut is often a good option. Witches are commonly found near huts produced by Minecraft seeds, as well as a black cat inside.
