Enchantments are used to enhance or level up the already present stats, or to add special effects to any piece of armor, weapon, tool, and other items. In Minecraft, players apply enchantments to their gears, in order to become more powerful and swift at the game. Without enchantments, it would have been extremely difficult to defeat certain mobs or monsters. In the game, every player strives to apply enchantments on his gear, to maximize its level to ultimate.
There happens to be many enchantments in the game, and every item can be enchanted upto a certain times, if reached, it will make the item too expensive to be enchanted. Hence, it is very necessary for players to keep a record of their enchantments and make plans before involving their hands in enchantmenting.
To avoid too expensive message, players should start enchanting their gears with lower leveled enchantments, such as Mending I, Fire Aspect II, Unbreaking III, Protection IV, and so on in a sequence like this. Because, starting from level I requires less experience, therefore adds less cost to the item. If an item is enchanted with higher level (e.g. Level V) enchantments from the beginning, it will add a lot of the cost or experience to the item; ultimately, making it too expensive to be enchanted earlier than usual. Additionally, you won't be able to add as many enchantments as you could have by starting from lower leveled ones.
