3,000 fish species were introduced to Minecraft Bedrock almost a decade ago, including Bubble Columns, Drowned Zombies, and, of course, Sea Turtles. So, what is it about sea turtles that makes them so unique? Unlike the majority of the new animals, the player will breed Sea Turtles.

Despite the fact that the game has been out for a long time, some players still need assistance in learning how to breed Sea Turtles. We'll show you how to breed Sea Turtles and tell you more about this fascinating virtual species in this post.

In Minecraft, here's how to breed turtles.

Let's take a look at how to breed sea turtles in Minecraft before we go into more detail. To breed Sea Turtles, you'll need two members of the species and at least two Seagrass pieces.

1. Find two turtles at least
Of course, you'll need two parent turtles to breed turtles. In Minecraft, fully grown Sea Turtles can be found in the Beach biome. You can either walk along the beach or dive in the water to find them. Of course, you can use a cheat to spawn a turtle or a Spawn Egg, but that isn't exactly in the spirit of Minecraft.

Given that you won't be able to pick up a turtle and transport it to a specific spot, dig a hole in the sand around (at least) two turtles. The Sea Turtles will not mate if they are simply left in the pit. You'll have to "encourage" them.

2. Craft shears
You'll need the Shears item to get your hands on Seagrass (and a lot of other things). Two Iron Ingots, made from Iron Ore, are required for this item. Iron Ore can be mined in the vicinity of most mountains in the game. Since one Iron Ore yields one Iron Ingot, you'll need at least two Iron Ores. Then, to make an Iron Ingot, go to the furnace and add some coal and Iron Ore. Repeat the process once more.

Go to the crafting menu and put one Iron Ore in the second box of the top row of the 33 crafting grid. Then, in the second middle row, put the other Iron Ore in the first box. Make Shears now.

3. Obtain Seagrass
Let's take a look at how to breed sea turtles in Minecraft before we go into more detail. To breed Sea Turtles, you'll need two members of the species and at least two Seagrass items.

4. Feeding the sea turtles
Return to the turtles and use the hot bar to pick Seagrass. Seagrass should now be fed to each turtle. Red hearts should appear above both turtles once you've fed them. This indicates that both turtles are in "love mode." The hearts will vanish after a while. One of the two Sea Turtles can then begin digging and lay up to four eggs on the bottom.

5. Wait and watch
The only thing left to do now is to wait for the baby Sea Turtles to hatch. They only hatch at night, so don't wait around in the daytime for them to hatch. Feed ten Seagrass products to a baby Sea Turtle to help it develop into an adult.

Behaviour of Sea Turtles and their Eggs

Sea Turtles are passive Minecraft mobs. This means that if they are attacked, they will not fight back. This is important to remember since the turtles are often targeted by Minecraft creatures ranging from Zombies to Ravagers. Prepare to put some protective measures in place if you intend on starting a Sea Turtle farm.

Sea Turtle eggs are highly fragile once laid. The chances are that if you or another Minecraft individual stands on an egg, it will crack. Furthermore, dropping an egg would almost certainly result in it cracking. As a result, exercise caution when dealing with them. Adult turtles can also split eggs, so keep that in mind. Ensure that the eggs are safely tucked away.

A fun fact about baby turtles is that they are the smallest mob in Minecraft, measuring 0.12 bricks. Another adorable excuse to make the Sea Turtle mobs mate.

Also, bear in mind that, while sea turtles are sluggish on land, they are lightning quick in the water. Knowing this should make it easier for you to round them up.

Sea Turtles and Minecraft

As you can see, mating Sea Turtles is not a difficult task. You don't need many things, and the whole thing can be enjoyable. Baby turtles lose scutes that can be used to make a turtle shell for underwater breathing, in addition to being a fun sport. You can also make a potion that makes you more resilient. The best part is that the scutes aren't acquired by killing baby turtles; rather, they are shed when the young turtles mature.

If the idea of getting a farm of cute turtles that can actually be useful appeals to you, go ahead and follow the steps described above.
